About

Over the past 20 years, Hans has focused his attention on energy systems and resource utilization on a global scale, but with a human quality.  He wouldn’t trade this “life-work” balance attainment for anything.   Primary objectives and driving passion; Integrate rapidly with existing organizations, companies or motivated professionals, as…Continue reading “About”

It gives me great pleasure to provide a reference for Hans.

I met Hans through his Energy Web Global initiative. Through our ongoing direct communications, I have found him to be intelligent, insightful, and very knowledgeable about global energy resources, sectors and complementary industries.

His writing skills are outstanding; his articles are well researched, have great depth and breadth, and his perspective is well defended by quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Besides the nitty-gritty details, there is a humorous undercurrent in his message delivery which makes the subject matter engaging in an otherwise boring space.

His experience in the energy industries is deep and diverse. Hans can reconcile conflicting theories, cultural values and frameworks in a very succinct manner to find the commonalities not always obvious to other stakeholders.

Lastly, I appreciate his passion of sharing “Lessons Learned from East & West” to empower the people in the Emerging Economies of our global community.

Hema Krishnan, Ph.D. – Strategy & Global Business

Hans Hyde is a highly respected professional with a strong combination of practical field experience and astute theoretical insight.  His broad interests and knowledge of energy resources and conversion systems, both fossil and renewable, set him apart from most energy experts.  Hans critically observes and analyses with extraordinary skill, encompassing technical, economic, socio-political, and pragmatic/logistical concerns.  His experience and research interests have been worldwide. He focuses on specific project details and local objectives but always with global perspective.  I recommend Hans without reservation.

Lawrence L Lindsey, Project Manager

Hans Hyde stands out as an excellent commentator on energy resources and conversion systems.

His approach towards analysis is unprejudiced, taking into consideration equally, limitations and benefits of each power generation technology and fuel type; i.e. nuclear, fossil fuels or renewables, unlike other analysts. His research, study and presentations, contain global aspects and components to them. His diverse worldwide experience, across the energy sectors, makes him an excellent pundit of the contemporary energy industry.

I have been following Hans’ insightful posts for more than [4] years and became an avid fan of his clear, insightful analysis and observations of the industry. I would love to work with Hans and would recommend him without doubt.

Bilal Khan, QHSE Manager

May 12, 1999

In 1998, Hans Hyde worked under contract to PG&E as Senior Forester on a centralized removal program.  His position required strong communication, leadership, and technical skills.  Office responsibilities included documenting consistent work practices, tracking equipment assignments, database administration and making progress reports.  Field responsibilities included direct contractor interaction, customer complaint resolution, maintaining agency contacts, pre and post auditing of tree removal packages, presentations, and working with non-profit groups.

Hans has a commitment to the field of utility arboriculture and has continually worked to improve his skills.  He actively sought out opportunities to make public presentations on tree removal and directional pruning to homeowner groups.  To increase his familiarity with pesticides, he obtained a California Certified Applicator Certificate and implemented cut stump auditing procedures.  He consulted with other industry professionals and looked outside his immediate group for new solutions.

Hans has strong organizational skills, and is able to balance competing demands for his time.  He has the ability to work alone, is willing to spend the extra effort to get the job done and the judgment to ask for guidance when necessary.  It was my pleasure to work with Hans and believe he has the capability to perform in a position of greater responsibility.

Hugh Merriam – Analyst at PG&E

I have communicated with Hans over the past several years. Sometimes we argued, other times we were in “violent agreement,” but through all of this, I believe that we have both benefitted.

Hans has an excellent grasp of the energy situation and systems, and has been very active in discussions on a practical and positive ways forward. We need more people like him; prepared to challenge the status quo, but equally to challenge the activists with extreme ideas and little background.

I have enjoyed a growing relationship with Hans as a colleague and as a friend.
